Sex Therapy and Coaching
A new you starts today.
A new you starts today.
Are you stuck in unhelpful patterns in your relationship? Are you dissatisfied with your sex life? Are you struggling to communicate your needs/desires? Are you an individual struggling with anxiety, intimacy, or substance use? Are you a family with adolescents struggling with communication or LGBTQ issues? All genders & sexualities, poly/open/monogamous couples, kinks, and sex workers are welcome and affirmed in my therapy room.
As a sex therapist, I offer a nonjudgmental space for you to gain insights into your thoughts, feelings, needs, and desires. Through those insights, we'll elicit changes you need to build healthy relationships and a satisfying sex life. As a SFSI-certified sex educator and Somatica-trained sex/intimacy coach, I have comfort with diverse sexual issues. We will work through shame, anxiety, and fear together as it comes up.
I use dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) techniques--such as mindfulness and distress tolerance--for more immediate symptomatic relief. But the core of our work will be insight based (psychodynamic and attachment-oriented), so you can expect a deeper understanding of who you are. Due to the experiential nature of my approach, my clients often see changes occur in real time in the therapy room. Finally, I work from a social justice perspective, as we don't live our lives in a vacuum, but rather within the greater contexts of our society.
I believe in every individual's capacity for change. I believe that we are all shaped by our pasts, and that through gaining insight into that past, we can enact change. I believe that shame is the most paralyzing emotion, and therefore one of our biggest roadblocks to finding happiness. And I believe that the patterns we've learned in our past once helped us survive, but they may not be what's best to help us thrive.
For couples and polycules, I offer relationship counseling. I specialize in treating couples with sexual issues. In addition, I work with couples on communication, transitioning from monogamy to non-monogamy (or vice versa), deepening emotional intimacy, navigating gender/sexual identity shifts, and more.
For individuals, I offer 1:1 therapy. Typical concerns might be: anxiety, substance use issues, internet or porn addiction, other sexual concerns, coming out issues, socio-political stress, phase of life issues, and so much more.
For more experiential learning specific to intimacy and the erotic, I offer Somatica method sex/intimacy coaching. This is NOT personal psychotherapy, but an experiential approach to improving intimate connections, and can be done 1:1 or with couples.
For families, I work with queer/questioning adolescents, families with LGBTQ parents, and families struggling with healthy communication or adolescent substance use. I also like to work with families on managing feelings around social and political issues.
